Career Services Mission & Vision
Mission: To provide opportunities for students to enhance their career development and exploration of post-degree paths from FIMS.
We do this by: Encouraging self-exploration into self-awareness, improving understanding of media and information-relevant industries establishing professionalism and job search skills, and coaching curiosity, adaptability, and decision-making.
Vision: We build career-readiness skills and student confidence, help students navigate possibilities, boost knowledge, confidence, and self-advocacy in regard to a range of media-related fields.
Career Services Roles & Responsibilities
Career Services Officer
- Meet with students 1:1 to support their career development
- Develop and deliver a wide range of programs, tools, events, activities, and services to support experiential learning (EL), career exploration, and work-integrated learning
- Facilitate the undergraduate internship program, including developing relationships with industry and community partners and working to increase EL opportunities for students
- Co-chair of FIMS Career Conference
Undergraduate Program Assistant
- Support appointment management for Career Services
- Assist in management of FIMS Internship Program
- Logistics and planning for FIMS Career Events
- Member of FIMS Career Conference Committee
Academic Advisors
- Conduct introductory career appointments and integrate career advising into academic advising
- Refer students to career services resources including internships, career events, and career advising appointments
Manager, UGSS
- Lead and set strategy for career services at FIMS
- Assist in workflow for FIMS Internship Program
- Co-chair of FIMS Career Conference
