Here is a glossary of acronyms and terms of references you may come across in the Career Services team.
Acronyms
- FIMS3999 – Course code for FIMS Academic Internship
- O-Week – Orientation week for first year students
- SAO – Summer Academic Orientation
- UGSS – Undergraduate Student Services
- USRI – Undergraduate Student Research Internship
Technologies & Tools
- Extranet – Faculty/Staff Extranet, useful for finding student class schedules
- K Drive – Formerly the “home of all documents” in the server, now is a folder for files within Teams/Sharepoint/OneDrive used by UGSS
- OWL – Western’s learning management system for all courses
- Service Desk/osTicket – the shared inbox where student inquiries go
- Student Center – Western’s PeopleSoft Student Information System
- Teams/Sharepoint/OneDrive – where all the files are stored, may be called any of those terms
- Western Connect – Western’s Orbis-powered student dashboard where students apply for internships, book appointments, and access a number of other campus resources
